About

Overview

Sandeep Ganesh (also know as SaGa) is a Indian spiritual teacher and a contemporary guide in self-inquiry.

Basis his own relentless quest for the self during his late 20s and early 30s, during which he remarks profound insights were uncovered, his guidance to aspiring seekers emphasizes a two-fold movement to self-realisation: "First, stabilise and quieten the mind, and then, let go and penetrate into the nature of the self".

His broader perspectives or guidance are available to everyone through Skanda Sanctuary and at this website, however his deeper teachings and materials remain private and are currently shared selectively to those with sufficient grounding and readiness, reflecting his view that certain insights are not to be consumed, but discovered.

While a brief bio is shared below and also through some of his videos and writings, he recommends participants to focus on the guidance and not the guide. He does not elaborate on personal spiritual experiences, recognizing that they can become both a distraction and something that participants may try to reach or imitate.

Background

Early inclination

Born in India to a Hindu Brahmin family, Sandeep was introduced to mantra meditation early at the start of his teenage, which he realised later was instrumental in improving his concentration and stabilising his restless mind. By the age of 18, a natural tendency toward self-reflection had emerged—quietly shaping his inward orientation and foundation for later inquiry.

Turn toward Spirituality

His exploration of deeper questions began around the age of 28, during solo travels to Israel, Palestine, and the spiritual centers of Varanasi and Prayagraj in India—experiences he describes as having a strong influence on him.

During the COVID period, an intense and unavoidable questioning around death emerged, shifting his curiosity into a deeper investigation into the nature of life and death. He turned to diverse sources—science, religion, and psychology to find his answers and was influenced by the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, adopting a formal practice of meditation and yoga.

This search gradually evolved into a pursuit of self-realisation and liberation, leading him to the Upanishads and Advaita Vedanta—teachings that, as he notes, fundamentally altered the way he perceived the world.

Deepening into Inquiry

His pursuit of self-realisation became increasingly intense—no longer a matter of interest, but a restless need to reach, see and verify for himself instead of possessing or relying on conceptual understanding. This lead him to step away from his successful professional career and fully engage in this pursuit.

Around this time, his visit to Tiruvannamalai in India and the teachings of Ramana Maharshi became central, redirecting his pursuit toward a simple but direct question: Who is the “I”? This marked the beginning of a sustained phase of self-inquiry.

Soon after, he moved to South America, accepting an invitation to teach yoga in Colombia. Over the next two years, he lived in ashrams across Colombia and Peru—teaching foundational practices while continuing his own inquiry. During this period, he also travelled across the Andes to various countries, conducting workshops, retreats, and group sessions.

These years, he notes, were both were mentally and physically challenging. After a period of intense inquiry, one that nearly consumed him, he shares that profound insights emerged bringing the pursuit of self-realisation to a natural end.

He currently travels across India, the United States, and South America, engaging in projects and what life naturally calls for.

Professional Experience

Sandeep is a management consultant and was formerly engaged with the leading consulting firm Bain & Co., and global automotive companies. His professional work spanned across diverse industries and geographies—working closely with leadership at large conglomerates, startups, and non-profits.

His nature of this work involved developing strategy, improving performance, and expanding scale of organisations by bringing clarity to complex situations, understanding underlying patterns, and navigating uncertainty in dynamic environments.

Education

Sandeep holds a Masters in Management from Indian School of Business, where he served as President of the Student Body and was awarded the Gold Medal for All-Round Excellence, Young Leader’s Award, and the Dean’s List.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering, graduating with a University Gold Medal.

His education and professional experience have shaped a clear, analytical, and structured way of engaging with complex questions—an approach that naturally extends into his work in spirituality and self-enquiry.

He also quotes that pursuit of societal success often occupies one's mind and attention, and a certain degree of it creates space to look what is beyond, — as it did for him, relatively early.

Other interests

Beyond his teaching and profession, Sandeep’s journey has also been shaped by exploration and observation. His interests include photography, travel, reading, and history.
